RPLHelp

RPLHelp is a web resource designed to assist anyone who is preparing an Australian Computer Society (ACS) Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) application for assessment for migration. RPL is a way for computing professionals who haven't got an Australian recognised IT based degree or diploma to have their work experience recognised as a replacement for a qualification.

I undertook a RPL application to have my 11 years of experience as a software engineer recognised against a Software Programmer for the purposes of applying for a subclass 136 immigration visa for Australia. When preparing my application I initially undertook preparation on my own, but I found that the lack of specific assistance led me to employing an agent to help me complete the process.

Understandably people are reluctant to share their hard work with others considering how much time and effort goes into preparing a RPL application and some argue that as the RPL is based on personal experience that examples from others are of little use, however I believe that seeing examples of what is needed is a good starting point for the application. By employing an agent I got to see several examples for several Core Body of Knowledge (CBOK) sections of the RPL and this certainly helped in the production of my RPL application, and this is why I decided to start RPLHelp.com.

As you browse this site you'll find that there are practical help sections, click FAQ , which draw on mine and others' experiences with the RPL application and which have helped get us through the seemingly endless process.

The site now includes contributor's CBOK sections, project reports and completed RPL applications as well as my own.  A small fee is charged to download these sections.  This is primarily due to the fact that each application takes many hours of hard work to complete. The intention is not to profiteer from this information but to provide a reasonably priced alternative to migration agents.

I have also made my references available as this is another tricky aspect of preparing the ACS RPL application.  No matter how good your RPL is, if your references don't back up what you've said then its worthless!

I am certainly not a migration agent and do not claim to be such.  This website will not provide any assistance with any part of the migration visa application process, it is entirely dedicated to provide assistance with the ACS RPL application.  I would highly recommend contacting a registered migration agent for any other visa related assistance. If you'd like to know which agent I would recommend drop me an email to info@rplhelp.com and I'll tell you what I know!

In its current incarnation the website only provides static assistance with the RPL, however if users show interest in me providing email assistance with the individual applications, I may provide this review and assist service for a fee (far less than that charged by immigration agents) in the future.  If you would be interested in showing support for this kind of additional service please see the contact section.
